July 2021 Excursion Programme Update

We are excited to announce some changes to our usual summer excursion programme.  These include revisions to our regular trips and a new summer travel option.  Our programme over the next six months commences with the traditional Daffodil Express to the annual Carterton Daffodil Festival.  This train runs on Sunday 12th September and is already booking very well.

On 17th October we have another of our regular Heartland Flyer trips running to Woodville via the Manawatu Gorge.  This is an easy way to inspect  the gorge along with the construction work that is happening for the new replacement highway.

A revised Grand Circle Rail Cruise that makes it much easier for Wellington clients to travel runs on Sunday 5th December.  Steam Inc Excursion Organiser David Rowland comments that with the train running in a counter clockwise direction this year it will be possible to join at Paekakariki or Porirua, or Wellington and be dropped off back at those stations in the evening.  During the day there is still an option for a lunch stop at the Wingate Lane Restaurant at Opaki or to visit the Mauriceville Country Fair.  Perfect for an end of year event.

Thanks to our friends at On Track Events the North Pole Express will be back again in December.  Steam Inc only supplies the train with all of the arrangements and Ticketing being handled by OnTrack Events.  See https://www.ontrackevents.co.nz/north-pole-express/ (external link) for more information and to book.  Runs on 18th & 19thDecember only.

On 30th January 2022 we will be running the Summer Spiral Express to Raurimu. In the past this destination has been a winter trip but as it is a very long day we are running it in January to maximise the benefit of daylight saving.  For January 2022 we will not be running our usual Eketahuna Express.  Also the February Deco Delights day excursion to Napier will not run in 2022.

Future excursion updates will be posted on our website.
