Current status: Awaiting main line registration.
After being leased for many years to the Railway Enthusiasts Society, Auckland, for use on the Glenbrook Vintage Railway and main line excursions in the Auckland area, Da1431 was hauled back to Paekakariki in August 2008 for refurbishment. As at Jan 2009 there is a small dedicated team working on this loco. Subject to going through the heritage vehicle registration process and attaining certification it is hoped that Da1431 may be back on the main line by the end of 2009.
If you think you could assist with the overhaul of Da1431 and would like to join the team please contact Pete Steer on 021 120 3786.
