These trains will be hauled by a pair of heritage diesel locomotives.

A quick sprint in either direction of your choice, between Masterton and Carterton! The beautifully restored station building at Carterton will be open for passengers to visit during our short stopover. The Wairarapa Railway Restoration Society Inc. is a community group that aims to restore the historic station building built in 1880 to its former glory and to develop the precinct to include facilities for passing rail excursions. The society works with other groups with similar interest, such as Steam Incorporated, to achieve its aims. Although a daily stop for all Wairarapa commuters heading to work in Wellington, not often is the significance of this historic building acknowledged.
